Bottlegreen pressé range blossoms with addition of acacia

8th February 2014

Following the success of a seeded launch of a new acacia blossom flavour earlier in the year and riding on the sales high of the brand’s ‘handpicked for summer’ elderflower campaign, Bottlegreen Drinks has taken the decision to roll out the acacia blossom sparkling pressé in the foodservice sector and make the new line a permanent addition to the bottlegreen portfolio.
The bottlegreen acacia blossom sparkling pressé made its debut exclusively in National Trust and English Heritage cafés and restaurants earlier this year, and it is now being made available to all foodservice customers in 275ml single-serve bottles.

Bottlegreen Drinks has used the same traditional wine making techniques and cold filtration process it employs for its flagship elderflower cordial and sparkling pressé to produce the acacia blossom variant. The acacia tree’s lilac blossom, which has a sweet, delicate and slightly plum-like flavour, is steeped and then the extract is blended with lightly sparkling water to produce a floral and deliciously refreshing soft drink.

The range extension also follows a significant uplift in sales resulting from bottlegreen’s ‘handpicked for summer’ campaign which saw the brand achieve its highest sales figure in the brand’s 24-year history – this summer bottlegreen sales exceeded £5.6 million for the first time. And in the first seven months of the year bottlegreen elderflower cordial sales were up by 29% compared with the same period in 2012 while elderflower sparkling pressé sales grew by 22%2 over the same period.

Visits to the bottlegreen website also increased by 26% vs the same period last year.

Simon Speers, Bottlegreen Drinks’ Managing Director, says: “This year we celebrated the elderflower season with an unprecedented level of activity and it has achieved some unprecedented results!

“Consumer awareness for the bottlegreen brand is also running at an all time high3, and with this broadening consumer base and the initial sales success of the acacia blossom in selected outlets we believe the time is ripe for extending our portfolio with the addition of this exciting new flavour.

“The bottlegreen name is synonymous with elderflower and the brand dominates the glass cordial sector accounting for 71% of all elderflower cordial sales4, and we believe that bottlegreen acacia blossom is another innovative flavour that will complement the delicate floral flavour that bottlegreen is famous for.”
